How to Measure a T-Shirt for a Better Online Fit

A familiar T-shirt is a more useful fit reference than a size label alone. This step-by-step method turns it into a practical comparison tool.

Choose the right reference tee

Pick a shirt with the fit you want to repeat. Wash and dry it normally first, fasten any buttons, then lay it flat without stretching the fabric.

Take three useful measurements

Measure pit to pit across the chest, shoulder seam to shoulder seam, and from the highest shoulder point to the hem. Double the flat chest width only when a chart lists full circumference.

Compare like with like

Check whether the product chart uses garment or body measurements and keep units consistent. A small difference can feel meaningful in a close fit but less noticeable in a relaxed silhouette.
