Create contrast with the base
A light wash stands out against black, olive and deeper indigo. A darker wash can read more polished and works well with lighter neutrals.
Manage the two-denim look
Double denim feels intentional when the washes are clearly different or carefully tonal. Break up similar washes with a contrasting belt, tee or footwear.
Layer through the seasons
Use a tee or tank in warm weather, a light knit in transitional months, and a coat over the jacket when its collar and texture can act as a middle layer.
